GreenTree Hospitality Group (together with its affiliates, “GreenTree,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) takes seriously the confidentiality of your personal information, which is information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact you. This Privacy Policy describes the information collected by GreenTree and its suppliers (such information, “Collected Information”) through this website (“Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how that information is collected, used, and shared, your rights and choices regarding your personal information, how we communicate changes to this Privacy Policy, and how you may contact us regarding questions or issues with respect to anything contained in this Privacy Policy.

By accessing or using the Site, signing up for our GreenTree Rewards® program, or by accepting our Terms of Use, you (“you”) agree that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and made a part of our Terms of Use and our GreenTree Rewards Terms. We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time. All changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Site. Material changes will be conspicuously posted on the Site or otherwise communicated to you.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT

The information that we may collect from or about you broadly falls into the following categories:

  • Information that you voluntarily provide to us, for example, your contact and payment information.
  • Information that we automatically collect through your use of the Site, for example, data collected by servers, cookies, and analytics and advertising services.

WE COLLECT INFORMATION YOU VOLUNTARILY PROVIDE TO US

Contact Information. You can visit and use the Site without voluntarily sharing your personal information with us, but you must provide your contact information to use certain features of the Site. We will collect any contact information from or about you that you choose to submit to us, which may include your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, and company name.

For example, you must provide your contact information to GreenTree when you: create an online GreenTree account, book a room reservation, register for our loyalty program, submit information requests or a job application, and when you respond to communications from us (e.g., surveys and promotional offers). If you provide your telephone number to us, you consent to receiving text (SMS and MMS) messages and telephone calls from us at that telephone number. If you provide your email address, you consent to receive emails from us. We will use your contact information as described herein, subject in each case to your communications preferences, applicable laws, and the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Payment Information. Room reservations must be made by credit or debit card. To process your transactions, we temporarily collect credit and debit card information and we provide such information to our PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. We do not permanently store your credit or debit card information. To make a reservation or other online purchase through the Site, you will need to submit your name and your credit or debit card type, number, expiration date, security code, and billing address. Payment by credit or debit card is subject to the approval of the card issuer. We will not be liable in any way if a card issuer refuses to accept a credit or debit card for any reason. We will maintain a record of the purchases that you make using the Site.

Information We Collect When You Opt In to Marketing Communications. If you sign up or otherwise opt in to receive marketing communications from us, you may need to submit your name, phone number, mailing address, and email address. We may use this information to provide you with marketing communications, such as promotional offers, brand updates, newsletters, GreenTree Rewards offers and updates, and other physical and electronic communications. You may opt out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the applicable email or by contacting us. We may use third-party providers to deliver marketing communications to you.

GreenTree Rewards. To sign up for the GreenTree Rewards® program you will need to submit your name, email address, and create a password. If you use the Site while logged into your GreenTree Rewards account or if you use your GreenTree Rewards number at a GreenTree location, we will collect information about your activity and transactions, for example, your purchases and the GreenTree locations you have visited. We collect any additional information you may provide, such as personal preferences, date of birth, frequency of travel, purpose of travel, and preferred GreenTree location.

User-Generated Content. You are responsible for any comments, data, text, images, video, audio, and other content and material that you create, post, transmit, upload, publish, distribute, broadcast, submit, or otherwise provide via the Site, including by recommending activities and dining options near our locations (collectively, “User-Generated Content”). User-Generated Content that you provide is at your own risk. We cannot guarantee that User-Generated Content you provide will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. You understand that, even after removal, copies of User-Generated Content you have provided may remain viewable in cached and archived pages and may have been copied or stored by internet archives and other Site users. We may make User-Generated Content available to other users of the Site and may use and disclose User-Generated Content for the purpose for which it was provided. We may share User-Generated Content on our social media pages. For more information on User-Generated Content, please review our Terms of Use.

Career Inquiries. To view career opportunities at GreenTree and to submit job application materials you will be directed to webpages operated by Indeed. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policy posted on those webpages. We collect all information that you provide in conjunction with your career inquiry and job application materials. We may use that information to evaluate your qualifications and to otherwise consider or respond to your application for current and future employment opportunities. Your submission of job application materials does not in any way require GreenTree to review those materials or consider you for employment. If you opt in to receive text messages, you consent to receiving text messages and telephone calls from us at that telephone number.

Franchise Inquiries. If you fill out an inquiry form on the Site with respect to GreenTree franchising opportunities, you will need to submit various information pertaining to the prospective franchisee, including your name, your business name, phone number, and email address. You may also provide other information.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT THROUGH YOUR USE OF THE SITE

We collect personal information that you submit directly, such as:

    • Create an account

10. Data Retention

We retain personal data:

  • As required by legal, tax, or contractual obligations
  • Up to 26 months for Google Analytics data after last activity
  • In accordance with customer contracts for data processed on their behalf

When data is no longer needed:

  • It will be deleted or anonymized
  • If deletion isn’t possible (e.g., backups), it will be securely stored and isolated
11. Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy may change. Updates are posted on the site and become effective immediately upon posting. Regular review is encouraged.
 
12. California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section § 1798.83 permits users of our Site that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please contact us.

II. The Right to Know, The Right to Delete, and the Right to Opt-Out of the Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) affords California consumers (1) the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and/or sell; (2) the right to request that we delete their personal information; and (3) the right to request that we no longer sell or share their personal information.

If you would like information about the personal information that we collect, disclose, sell and/or share about you, or if you would like to make a request for us to delete or to stop selling your personal information, please e-mail GreenTree’s Data Protection Office (“DPO”) at [email protected] or call us at 480-634-6386. 

When the DPO receives your request, the DPO will first verify your identity. If you are a GreenTree Rewards member, the DPO will verify your identity by asking you to provide your name, Rewards account number, and the email address and phone number associated with your Rewards account. If you are not a Rewards member, the DPO will verify your identity by asking you to provide your name, the email address and/or phone number associated with a past stay, and potentially a confirmation number from one of your stays at a GreenTree property. Once the DPO has verified your identity, the DPO will promptly fulfill your request.

If you would like, you may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. To designate an authorized agent, please submit an order issued by a court, a document submitted by a barred attorney, or a formal certified document issued by an official governmental agency.

Please note that when you opt out of Cookies, tags, and pixels, that opt out only pertains to the device and the browser that you are using when you opt out. If you wish to opt out for other devices or browsers, you must opt out again when you are using those devices or browsers.

III. Sensitive Personal Information

We limit the use of your personal information to that use which is necessary to perform reasonably expected services or as required by law.

  1. The Right to Non-Discrimination

The CCPA prohibits a business from treating a consumer differently because the consumer exercised a right conferred on him/her by the CCPA. We welcome you to exercise your rights under the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

  1. Financial Incentive Notice

GreenTree does not offer a financial incentive for the collection, sale, or deletion of personal information. As detailed in this Statement, GreenTree primarily collects personal data from guests in order to fulfill guest reservations and from Rewards members in order to operate the GreenTree Rewards loyalty program. GreenTree also collects personal data for marketing and other purposes as permitted by applicable law.

  1. Removal of Content

If you are a California resident under the age of 18, and a registered user of any site where this policy is posted, California Business and Professions Code Section 22581 permits you to request and obtain removal of content or information you have publicly posted. To make such a request, please send an email with a detailed description of the specific content or information to [email protected]. Please be aware that such a request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information you have posted and that there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow removal even if requested.

Access by Children

The Site is not directed at children under 18 years of age. GreenTree does not knowingly collect or use information from children under 18 through the Site. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 18 has provided personal information to us through the Site, please contact us and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete that information.

Third-Party Websites

The Site may link to, or be linked to, websites not maintained or controlled by GreenTree. GreenTree is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of any third parties or any third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites or to any personal or other information that you may provide to third parties. You should read the privacy policy for each website that you visit.
